2013 WDW & Disney Cruise Vacation - Day 1

Packing

I'd pulled an all-nighter the night before, packing and preparing for our Disney vacation the next day. Packing for this trip has been more extensive and complicated than previous visits have been due to the fact that we're visiting during the Halloween Season and thereby have costumes to bring along with our regular vacation clothes. I've spent the past few weeks putting together and perfecting my Mary Poppins costume, and that thing takes up easily half my suitcase... One thick English wool trenchcoat, one blouse, bow tie, stockings, heels, skirt and not one but two petticoats (stupid 1910 English fashion). I hope I'll be wearing this primarily in air conditioned locations or I think I'll get heat stroke...

Mary Poppins had been given a test-run at Anime Banzai just a few days before our trip. :D

At first the costume's bulk was a huge concern, but after following a trick I'd read about that clothing takes up far less space I you fold it in half and then roll it up tightly, I discovered that I had enough room for civvies, swimsuit, miscellaneousness and even Elizabeth Comstock, from Bioshock Infinite! :D Cause I'm a loser and I really want pictures with her either at Main Street USA or at the Boardwalk. No clue how I'm gonna make that happen but luck favors the prepared. And if I get any chance to get pictures, I'm taking it. >B|

I did not, however, have enough space to accommodate Dexter, who attempted to stowaway in my suitcase. And who, once spurned, gave into sleeping on my bed and allowing me to forget he was there and absentmindedly pile things on top of him like the tolerant creature he is.

Arrival

I was definitely in zombie-mode throughout the whole airport thing and took a melatonin so I could sleep through basically the entire flight to FL, and while I wasn't necessarily bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when we got there, I was awake enough to enjoy this great mixed sensation of joy and nostalgia and excitement. The Orlando airport is very familiar to me, memories from dozens of family trips in addition to my internship at Disney World during the summer of 2007. And now even simple scenes of the waiting lobby and the tramways give me butterflies of excitement while also feeling like I'm returning home.

I'm exhausted and cranky, just let me sleeeep. (Anime Banzai had also just ended two days ago, so I was already pretty beat from the weekend)

Empire of Nagisa, only at Sea World!!

Others might think I'm nuts, but seriously, It only really sunk in that we were finally here when I saw these chairs that I've spent countless hours over countless years waiting in while Dad retrieves luggage from the carousel and sorts out the whole rental car thing.

But nothing got me as excited as seeing these babies at the airport!! They must be new in the last five years though, because I've never seen them before. But they're an excellent example of Disney magic, how a normal check in desk/kiosk thing is just not good enough. Disney always goes all-out and will sprinkle even the commonplace with pixie dust, to give guests that sense of wonder, excitement, and high-class.

No rental car bs today! We're traveling in style on Disney's Magical Express!

We've officially arrived!!

I seriously still squee like a four year old at the sight of us traveling though this iconic gate. 8D Didney Worl! Didney Worl!! *bounces in seat*
